MY HAIR, MY CROWN
Birthed in 2014, the conversations my sister and I shared when she was braiding, twisting, flat-ironing, roller sets and sewing-in my hair was what mattered. Thinking about the sacredness and intimacy shared between two people as one is touching and sitting patiently to get their hair done fascinates me. “My Hair, My Crown” is about celebrating the process, outcome, and self-empowerment of getting one’s hair done with in the Afro-Caribbean and African-American culture.
